About Ed Larry

Ed moved with his family to Philippi in 1970 and has been an active community member ever since. After 30 years of service to the students of Barbour County, he retired from Barbour County Schools. He spent the last six of those years as principal of Philip Barbour High School. He also served as a teacher, coach, and assistant principal at Philip Barbour, as county transportation director for 17 hears, and in a variety of other administrative positions before his retirement in 2000.

Larry remains active in the community serving on the Philippi Building Commission. Before this he served 8 years on the Philippi City Council. He is on the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church's Finance Committee and has served there as an usher since the early 1970s. He also volunteers with Philippi Main Street and the Philippi Convention and Visitors Bureau, is lead volunteer of the Barbour County Historical Museum, and was chairperson of the Blue & Gray Reunion in Philippi for four years. He enjoys working on home improvement projects on both his home and his family's, and is a crafter who continues to conduct a woodworking workshop for 4H youth during the summer.
